SERVICES INCLUDE:
Athlete Development
Individualized training to improve your fitness on the erg and on the water. Identifying weak points to improve, and strengths to capitalize on. Training plans can be either standalone or supplemental, depending on your situation - whether you have a team you row with every day, are training completely on your own, or something in between.
Technique on the water and on the erg. Learning how to use your engine as efficiently as possible, establishing comfort and confidence in the boat, and understanding the details that coaches look for.
Training Physiology and Sports Science. What are training zones and energy systems? Why are 2Ks so uncomfortable and what’s actually going on beneath the surface? Understanding and reframing the “pain cave” so you can lean into discomfort rather than fear it.
Nutrition, fueling, supplements. Tried and true strategies to help you get to your optimal rowing weight, how to avoid bonking during long sessions as well as creating your “stack” for test day. You can’t expect to perform at your best if you aren’t fueled properly.
The Rowing Mindset. Rowing can be extremely rewarding but is not without its moments of self-doubt, frustration, and anxiety. The rowing mindset is a sport within the sport - learning to manage the mental side is just as important as mastering the physical one. Learn how to overcome mental barriers, prepare for and visualize the important moments, set purposeful goals, and understand why we as rowers do what we do.
College Recruiting Consulting
Marketing yourself as a rower. Coaches get hundreds of recruiting emails every season, but we’ll help you create a personal profile that will stand out for the right reasons.
Communication. Reaching out to programs can feel awkward at first, but we’ll make it easier. From writing your first emails to handling follow-up calls and official visits, we’ll help you stay organized and prepared every step of the way.
Finding the right fit for you academically and athletically. The best college experience happens in an environment that promotes growth as an athlete, as a student, as a person. We’ll help you think beyond just rankings to focus on places that matches your goals, values, and personality.
COACHING FORMAT
An initial meeting to discuss your rowing experience, goals, strengths, and areas for improvement. We will also address questions and concerns about recruiting, academics, and determine if we are the right option for you.
Weekly check-ins over Zoom or phone to discuss training, where we stand with recruiting, progress in rowing, video review, goals and points of focus for the coming week. Usually 40-45 minutes per meeting.
Continuous contact and support via a group chat with your coaches. We will make sure you are staying on top of things!! We will want you to update us after workouts as well as when you receive something or are about to send something to coaches so that we can track your progress. We also want to answer any questions that might come up outside our meetings and offer our advice whenever we can.
